These carousels of thought and incessant inquiries instigate and ignite the mind and being on the new single “The Glue” from San Francisco independent pop polymath Get Lost Cassidy Frost. A song that was inspired by an evening conversation they had with their little one, tackling the the obscured opacity of the world and the distortions that obfuscate the visions and esteem of the individual.

“The Glue” materializes from the moment of exchange and reflection as the questions permeate and populate the minds of both the parent and child. The things that we concern ourselves with, the many items that mull over and over within the chasms of our cerebellum and other associated chambers of our collective mental spaces. The open-ended query that revolves around the understanding and misunderstanding of the universe, and all of its particularities and peculiarities.

A song that found life as a self-recorded bedroom demo is given new life due in part to Elle Archer of Shaylee, recording, producing, and supplying atmospheric vocal accompaniment. Cass’s quest for articulation and expression is further accentuated in all of their vulnerable beauty and yearning in hopeful tones of inextinguishable light. These sentiments touch the rapidly moving San Francisco clouds that arrive from the Pacific Ocean and move inland further east.

“Glue” is about the folks that stick to us like an adhesive. A song for the loved ones, and the ways in which we stick and connect to them, and others. The ways and whys in which we find these special bonds. It’s about what attaches us to each other, what connects us to our environments, our communities, our friends, and our families. The constructs of feeling complete and whole, and always asking the big questions.

Cassidy Frost provided the following thoughts on “The Glue”:

A big part of my songwriting philosophy centers around letting a moment or idea pour out of me with as little intervention of thought as possible. It’s a practice and a challenge to put my ego down and let my subconscious do the writing and it doesn’t always work.

This song is special to me because it came out of me immediately after a conversation with my kid that made me view my entire life differently in an instant. The glue it brought with it so much of the sadness that exists at the core of who I am before my mind had the chance to conceptualize what the song could be.

I was so lucky to get to work with Elle on this song. I’ve been a fan of hers now for almost a decade. She’s such an attuned producer and player. The song now feels like a lullaby I can play for my own troubled mind and I think a lot of that comes from how held the song feels now that it’s wrapped in her instrumentation.
