Premiere | Cool Calm Chrys, 'So Far, So Far Gone...' EP

LA's up and coming radical upstart Cool Calm Chrys proudly presents the new EP So Far, So Far Out... with the following exclusive prologue preface:

When one thinks of Los Angeles, they think of sun soaked beaches juxtaposed by the more harsh tone of the landscape. From the 80s hair-band, neon tinged, Sunset strip, to the concrete jungles and black & white Crown Victorias of the LAPD. Los Angeles is a melting pot, and rapper Cool Calm Chrys is poised to stand in the middle and bridge the gap between both. Born and raised in Mid-City the home of Lucy's, Roscoes, and the legendary People Under The Stairs, Cool Calm Chrys is so westside, it's a damn shame. Carving his own niche within the overpopulated hip hop scene which is coined as conversational rap, he is a mixture of golden era hip hop stylings with left coast marijuana infused sensibilities. With influences such as J-Dilla, Vince Staples, MF DOOM, Boot Camp Clik, & The Pharcyde just to name a few, Cool Calm Chrys hopes to distort the perception of what "Los Angeles Rap" could and will be.
Cool Calm Chrys' EP release titled So Far, So Far Out... features chill vibe beats with influences and topics ranging from his affinity for anime, charcuterie, and artisanal marijuana to his unwavering devotion to his friends, family, and craft. These traits create a sound unique to his own and drastically different than the current state of the genre in which he resides. With the mentorship and production of Jon Siebels of Eve 6 fame, So Far, So Far Out... is a journey through the ups and downs of an everyday Angeleno while still finding a way to smile through it all. When one asks you, how have things been? simple say, so far, so far out...

With the sunsetting for local institution Low End Theory, Cool Calm Chrys launches So Far, So Far Out... to offer the world a sampling of the new sound of the rising LA underground. Working one on one with producer Jon Siebels, the member of cult local legends 93 Bulls builds off the recent slate of Quickstrike singles to expand the attributes, earth and atmosphere of an inclusive cool and calm new world.

Chrys recounts the influence of family and friends with the piano adorned brass beats on the uplifting "Accolades" reiterating the importance of togetherness through recitations of this feeling is great... Confidence is exhibited everywhere all throughout the EP—displayed in lyrical introspective inquiries revolving around truths, reasons and rationales.

On the pursuits of what's real with "What's the Deal?", Chrys embraces the creative license of being an individual on a creative mission of originality that steps out of the loud crowd with the unabashed promotion of the self on "Uncommon". As a trademark for every Cool Calm Chrys related release, there is always an abundance of gratitude as heard on the toast-raising nods to trailblazers, fans and supporters with "Thank You" before rounding it all off with the soul searching sax inflected path seeking single, "Find a Way". So Far, So Far Out... sees the Mid-City artist elaborating on a self-styled template of creating cool and collected approaches to bars and verse that stems from a heart-delivered place of sincerity, with an unbound sentimentality for others met along the open roads of life adventures.
