Wellness is a charged word. It is the thing that we all desire, according to our needs and instinctual yearnings in conjunction with the diversions from advertisers and product sponsored influencers that dictates what we lack in our lives. We all want to be well, to find that elusive center that we are told will bring us back to where we belong. And yet amid the distortions from the social media spheres and envy instigated by the lives of others we wish we were living, and practically everything in between; it’s all too easy to lose sight of what we truly want. The demands of our daily lives require us to manage hectic schedules (less they manage us), the fatigue of news overload, the humanitarian scars of a world in perpetual unrest, the aftermath of the pandemic, and civics that are consumed by authoritarian overlords that govern by audition, economic destitution, fear, and on, and on.

We operate in a modern existence where it feels like, and frankly often is, everything happening all at once. Brooklyn artist Julie Hill presents a song that is a spiritual searching for a sold foundation within the self and society on the new single “Be Well”. Proudly presented with visuals by accomplished filmmaker Madeleine Richardson (also based in Brooklyn, but by way of Asheville, NC) — Hill shares an electrified testimonial that speaks to the importance of sharing the gift of happiness within ourselves and spaces, like groups of fireflies sharing in the community togetherness of a lantern tenement.
"Be Well" is the much needed wellness check track as spring turns into summer. Following the releases glow serene, New Reality and more — Julie Hill continues to experiment and explore the human aspects that can be found through well crafted compositions of amplified modern instruments and consoles. Madeline’s visuals chronicle the song’s meditations between a classic orange glowing psychedelics stage and the NYC streets where both worlds depict the artist’s artist visceral and sensational ecstatic experience.
The song has the hustle and bustle of an 1980s day trader with the heart and soul of a wayward seeker of psychotropic utopia. The rich rhythms rock to an anxious beat that bursts into untethered fury of fiery guitar blazes, burning with the heady fervor of a religious epiphany happening in a the middle of a metropolis. Richardson perfectly creates an altered experience that is paired with the song’s distorted fuzz pedal chorus punches, showcasing Julie in the full throes of joy of reinvigorated reconnections. As cliché as it may sound, “Be Well” is an ode to joy for our current era. Hill adapts insights on mental/spiritual/self survival tips during severe and uncertain times into an ultra-pop anthem of empathetic humanity that connects the spirit with our connective streets, stages, shares consciousnesses, and everything else that is beyond our own immediate comprehension.

Julie Hill provided the following reflections on the life roads that lead to “Be Well”:
The last few years really taught me how important it is to find community, how important it is to communicate and connect with the ones you care about. “Be Well” is about self-growth, and how being kind is being human.

The song speaks to the mental/ emotional challenges (anxiety, stress from work, or something else) that everyone deals with and about how being well means grounding yourself from the inside. This song is for fans of weirdo synth rock.
