Since 2012, the Brooklyn three piece of Brit Boras, Rosie Slater and Marina Ross have been the vanguards of the NYC underground rock scene. From their breakout self-titled to the recent release of the "Fever Dream" single — New Myths carry forth the traditions from your favorite CBGBs anti-heroes, art pop debutantes ripped from the yellowing pages of throwback Melody Makers, Sounds and vintage NME issues to synthesizing new electrified aesthetics for today's contemporary consortiums of creatives and artful dodgers alike. New Myths stir up a sound that reminds us that rock is not quite dead yet, distilling the energy and attitudes of anachronistic idols and icons into a mesmerizing new mix for today and tomorrow’s audiences.

“Fever Dream” opens up the astral dimensional doors for an alternative and familiar frequency felt and experienced in the throes of the most lucid and surreal nocturnal visions. A track that answers the question of what a Toni Halliday and Curve cut might sounds like in 2021, updating Shirley Manson's "I Think I'm Paranoid", upcycling and evolving the guitar geared dream works of Lush, Justine Frischmann, The Primitives, The Shop Assistants and more — New Myths are one of the greatest hopes for a new-new NYC r&r renaissance & resurgence. With a Powerpuff-power pop aesthetic as seen in the following animated visual from Emily Zullo; Brit, Marina and Rosie kick out world destroying jams that dare you to call it cute or any other diminutive term before turning the tables and casting the ears and eyes of the beholder into a dizzying sensory state of euphoric vertigo with a vengeance. Join us for New Myths' own exploration of favorites and fascination after the following look & listen:

I became a bit obsessed with Dua Lipa’s choreography for “Levitating” when it first came out. There was something about it that was just, RIGHT. I had never really been one to notice choreography, but there was something about this particular one that felt so innate, so perfect for this song and for her. I looked up who had been the choreographer on the project, and oh.mah.god, Charm mother freakin La’Donna, what a DELIGHT of a discovery. Charm La’Donna has been doing choreography for big acts for years and this wormhole that I ended up in has brought me to such gems. La’Donna does a ridiculously beautiful job incorporating each artists personality or brand perfectly, so it’s like you’re watching them be them rather than a choreographed performance (you know what I’m saying?). She also does a flawless job of almost anticipating what you want to see, while also throwing in some curveballs that make your freakin jaw drop. One video that just GOT me was ROSALÍA’s “Con Altura”. I mean, first of freakin all that video is immaculate. Period. But the choreography just brings it to a whooooole other level. Literally screaming as I watched it. Let me reiterate how little of shit I gave about any of this, but Charm freakin La’Donna has enlightened me. So blessed.

Unusual Videos

I don’t know what stoned rabbit hole led me to this YouTube account, but it has greatly improved the quality of my life and I am spreading the word. Essentially they are strings of random home videos (cell phone videos, what are we calling these?), maybe seven or eight minute videos. That’s it. But something about the timing and the editing has put me in laughing fits that have come very close to uncomfortable. You know that laugh where there’s no sound and you have lost complete all agency over your body and you’re a little worried that it’s never going to end and this is just your life now? That. That kind of laugh. And just to tie it all up with a gorgeous little escapism-bow, they all end with a little encouraging sans serif message. Like, precious. Now I do not claim to have watched these without a bowl in my hand, so my judgment could beeeeee, off. BUT, I do feel confident that if ANYthing you’ll push a little grunt laugh out, and really, sometimes that’s all we need.

Photography has become a huge part of my life over the past year. I’d always had an interest in it, but had never had a concentrated time to focus on learning and messing around with different kinds like self-portraits, long exposures, double exposures, weird lighting, astrophotography....I love it all ha ha! It’s been great to have something creative to explore, but also so interesting to lean into thinking visually.

Birding

This pandemic has hilariously gotten me really into birding. Going on nature walks with a pair of binoculars and hearing various bird calls and identifying birds based on colors, patterns, and behaviors has been really relaxing and enjoyable for me. The more I've come to notice different bird calls the more I've also noticed them going on around me ALL the time in the most wonderful way. There is a birding app called Merlin that helps you to identify and record all the birds you've seen throughout your lifetime which is pretty cool.

Adult Coloring Books

Having a lot of time on my hands and creative energy to expend, I've also gotten really into using adult coloring books. I love using gel pen packs that come with every color under the rainbow and picking up a really interesting adult coloring book to color with. The adult books generally have finer lines and more interesting artwork. It can be such a soothing way to spend the night, while watching a good show, and getting to fill in the lines another artist drew while choosing which colors to use. Hilariously, my current coloring book of choice is birds.
